We pulled in early this morning & laid off in the harbor until afternoon then proceeded in to where we started to disembark. We were next to last to get off and at 10:30 we marched off the boat at Liverpool. We were on the train headed for London & was it crowded 7 men and our field equipment. What a ride. But it was a godsend to know that we were on ground. Then instead of celebrating today they buried Herb at Cambridge Cemetery in the American section. I was in London on business and could not attend only his best friend got to go. Herb was to marry an English girl soon. She sure took it hard. She is in the WAAF’s.
